Welcome to Toft Hill
Primary School

A message from our Headteacher

It is my absolute pleasure and privilege to be the Headteacher of this warm welcoming primary school! We are very much a part of the village of Toft Hill and we value and are proud to be a part of our local community. We currently have 199 pupils, which officially means we are smaller than average, but we believe we are the perfect size.

The members of our ‘Toft Hill’ school community are caring and supportive of each other; we believe in each other and encourage others to have self-belief too. Together we aspire to be the best version of ourselves that we can. There is a great friendly, community feel in our school where effective learning is embedded. We strive for high engagement and inclusive learning and activities for all.

School Admissions

Toft Hill Primary School has a pupil admission number of 26 pupils per class, from Reception to Year 6.  However in some circumstances the school can admit above this limit.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based primarily upon the requirements of the National Curriculum but careful consideration has been given to the particular needs of our pupils and the community in which we are situated.

Childcare Provision

Primary Schools are now required to publish alongside their Performance information a list of their childcare provision making it easier for parents to know what is available.

School Performance

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. Ofsted regulate and inspect schools and colleges to seek improvement in the service.

School Attendance

Attending school is very important. Your child must attend school every day.  Children who are regularly absent from school miss out on opportunities which can affect their life-long chances.

Pupil & Sport Premium Allocations

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and in 2012–13 individual schools were allocated funding for children from low-income families who were eligible for free school meals…

Community

In this section of our website we would like to share our images of events and visits with you.  We have also added information about our close links with our local community…

School Holidays

Head teachers are no longer able to grant leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. (A working definition of exceptional here is ‘rare’.)

School Council

Toft Hill Primary School Council consists of two children from each year group from Year 1 to Year 6. The children are elected by their peers as the people who they feel will best represent their class.

In science, Year 5 have been learning about the solar system. In particular, they’ve been talking about the planets.Currently, Jupiter is visible in the night sky and easy to spot as it is the very brightest object to the bottom right of the moon (see diagram). It will remain in this position for a while so if it’s cloudless at some point over the next week, you should be able to spot the largest planet in our solar system quite easily. Take a look!Mr Sproat ... See MoreSee Less

Many of our families are part of or linked to the farming community. A young farmer 'Jack' is encouraging school children to wear their wellies today in support of local farmers. Our children wear their wellies every day for outdoor play and learning but today they can do it in support of the farming community. As part of ongoing work to develop Career Related Learning, we will talk about what the job of a farmer involves and some of the skills required to do the job. ... See MoreSee Less

Exciting news!Coming soon…….You may have noticed that our current play equipment has been out of action for a while. This is because it requires repairs that are mounting in costs due its age and the wear and tear it has naturally encountered over time. We are so pleased to inform you that we have had a grant funding application successfully approved and alongside money raised from your wonderful fundraising efforts, we have been able to order some new equipment. The children have seen a range of designs and some have been involved in the decision making process, sharing their likes, dislikes and preferences. The image shows the final design and we are now just awaiting final permissions and hope to have it installed as soon as possible in the new year.Thank you so much for your ongoing support! ...
